Flameworks was founded 2001 and is the largest artist-led workspace facility in Devon and Cornwall, and now houses nearly 24 artists - including ceramicists, jewellers, metalworkers, painters and sculptors.Artists at Flameworks undertake a wide range of public and private commissions and activities and many members are also involved in educational workshops and projects. Jane Burt
Jane is a sculptor and painter, with a varied and colourful range of work.
Her sculptural pieces are either human form or made from 'found' or recycled materials. Her paintings vary from landscape to human form and are often semi abstract.She enjoys mono-printing and using mixed media on canvas, board or paper. She has recently been experimenting with 'drip' painting using gloss paint which is applied to the canvas from a height.

Foot Anstey Schools Art Project
07/02/09Flameworks resident artist Katie Lake was approached by DAISI (Devon Arts in Schools Initiative) and Barefoot (Plymouth’s Arts Education Agency) to work with young people from 3 Plymouth schools on a commissioned piece of artwork for Foot Anstey’s new HQ building in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth.

Workspaces available
07/02/09There are currently two workspaces available for rent at Flameworks. The dimensions of the spaces are 5x3.5m (6 month temporary lease) and 3x3.4m with the monthly rent being £115 each. If you are interested or would like to arrange a visit please contact the office.

Brownstone Gallery
Flameworks members are exhibition artwork in a summer exhibition at the Brownstone Gallery, stunning work by many of our members is on show inside this contemporary gallery's spacious interior space, but step outside to see that much more artwork is displayed in the beautiful garden courtyard garden to the rear.[more...]
