About Us

Flameworks has been running since 2001.  Set up by ex staff and students from Plymouth College of Art, Flameworks aimed to address concerns about the lack of graduate retention in the Creative Arts in the Plymouth area, giving local artists a space to continue with their creative practice

There are communal facilities at the site in Richmond Walk for jewellery, glass lampwork and heavy metal working including forges and similar specialist equipment.  These can be hired by members on a daily/half daily basis.

Flameworks artists undertake a wide range of commissions and are also involved in educational workshops and projects.  Working in partnership with schools and extended agencies, Flameworks offers creative approaches that enhance the mainstream curriculum.  Artists can provide these opportunities either at the studio or in an outreach capacity in the clients own school or venue.

Flameworks hosts open studio days and organises 3 to 4 group exhibitions of its members' work annually, including the popular Art2Go exhibition every December.

For more information about Flameworks, becoming a member, or to talk about commissions please feel free to get in touch.
